"Predendum": On May 26th, the uneven areas on the courts were fixed by Wil-Mac. Since the repairs utilized only a thin layer of asphalt, they didn't require the regular three week curing period, and the courts are now fully cured and ready for painting. As a result of weather-related delays, we now anticipate having the courts painted in mid July. A Letter to Our Members regarding Court Paving
At the end of last season, when we had the courts resurfaced by Wil-Mac Paving, we noticed a couple of areas around the baseline on court 3 that were not up to the standard necessary for a tennis court. Unfortunately Wil-Mac did not correct the error before the Winter set in, and due to their schedule we would not be able to have the repairs done before the start of this season. Although Wil-Mac assured us that we were to be first on their list to correct the area when the company opened the first week of May, as you can see the repair job has not yet been completed. We are very unhappy about the situation but seem to be at their mercy to complete this job. We were hoping that the courts would be finished and ready for play by the end of May but now that does not seem likely. The executive members have been discussing this situation at length to determine which is the best route to go for the club to keep you, the members, happy and get maximum use of the courts as soon as possible. The court area we are talking about is not large, but it does pose a small safety risk to players on the court. In addition, balls that bounce in that area may have a weird return trajectory. We obviously need to get this fixed so we request your patience in the completion of this project. In the interim, we have decided to paint the lines on courts 2 and 3 ourselves, while we wait for the tarmac job to be completed. The stewards and the Pros have offered to do this and we are hopeful that this will be done by next week. It will enable us to have 2 more courts available for play, but we will need to work around the paving company so that they are able to get in and do the repair as soon as possible. Once the repair has been done we have to let the new paving cure for about 3 weeks before the final painting can be done. When the painting crew comes in, they will paint the two courts in the new blue-on-green colour scheme that we have on court 1, and they will also repaint court 7 in the same scheme. We all look forward to the completion of this undertaking! If you have any questions or concerns about this or any other club matter please do not hesitate to contact a member of the executive or a staff member. Thank You.
