The Kingston Tennis Club held its annual Ladies' & Gentlemen's Singles Championship on the August 14-16 weekend. In the Gentlemen's event, John Berkok didn't drop a set all weekend on his way to the championship. He beat Bud Nelson 7-5, 6-1 in the final. Two newcomers to the club, Mark Venditti and Jason Dale competed for the consolation title, which Mark won 6-4, 6-0.

On the Ladies' side, Chloe Wilson took the trophy by overcoming Mariana Silva 6-4, 6-1. And in the most competitive match of the day, Gill Turnbull battled to a 6-3, 3-6, 6-3 win over Lesley Furter in the women's consolation.

Congratulations to all competitors, who showed great stamina in playing on the hottest weekend of the year. And thanks to tournament director Andy Rogall and assistant director Anees Karmally for their work in keeping things running smoothly, in spite of not having the use of courts 2 and 3.
