Some Notes on KTC Rules and Regulations

We hope that you will enjoy your tennis at the Kingston Tennis Club and our friendly atmosphere, and we have put together a few common-sense tips that over the years have helped ensure the continued enjoyment of our Club by all its members:

• A weekly calendar of events outlining the regular tennis that is offered at the club along with other events - socials, outings, tournaments, etc., will be displayed on the notice boards and posted on our web site (www.kingstontennisclub.com).

• Suitable tennis wear should be worn by all members. Tennis shoes with non-marking soles must be worn on all courts.

• The club is open for play from 7.30 am to 10.30 pm. Stewards will be on duty from 9 am onwards and are available to book courts. You may also book by phone up to 7 days in advance – one hour for singles, two hours for doubles. Members may only make one booking per day, but are free to use unbooked courts if they are open. Please note that there is a maximum 15 minute default time for any court booking, after which the court is released for use by others.
New in 2010 is our on-line booking system which you can access through the website.

• The Singles Ladder and Doubles Leagues run throughout the season. You are responsible for setting up your own games in the singles ladder. Balls may be purchased at the upstairs canteen at a competitive rate. Please sign up with the steward if you want to participate in the league or ladder.

• Floodlights are available on courts 4, 5 and 6, from dusk until 10.30pm. The stewards will turn on the lights; please ensure that they are turned off if you are the last players to leave the club. Please lock the outer gate as well.

• A digital lock is fitted to the men’s and ladies’ washrooms for your convenience. Please contact the steward for the number.

• You are welcome to bring a visitor to the club 3 times in a season. Please enter their details in the visitor’s book upstairs and sign the book yourself. The guest fee is $10, and should be given to the steward. Should a visitor subsequently decide to join, guest fees already paid will be credited against the membership fee.

• The courts, grounds and clubhouse are for the members' enjoyment, so please help to look after them. If you take water bottles on to the courts please make sure that the empty containers are placed in the garbage or re-cycle bins, and that no garbage is left on the courts.

• Both players and spectators are expected to respect the rights of the other players. Shouting, swearing, and heckling will not be tolerated. Members are expected to show courtesy to each other at all times both on and off the courts.

If you have any questions, concerns or suggestions, please talk to the stewards or a member of the executive. We will do our best to accommodate your request.
